Stuff About Me
The Artist Statement ('cuz they say I have to have one!)
I push the limits of quilting and it's way fun. I enjoy quilts of all kinds, but have been drawn to contemporary quilts as a means of play and possibility. My recent works feature multiple layers, free standing pieces and pop-up structures. I have recently incorporated hinges so that quilted panels can swing free and change the shape and dimension of the piece.
I have never been able sit still long enough to do just one thing repeatedly and have long been plagued with the "what ifs" and the "why nots". (just ask my Mom) Although this childlike curiosity sometimes gets me into mischief, it also provides endless hours of enjoyment. A couple of years ago, I discovered how fun fabric paints, found objects and recycled clothing can be when added to the mix. My studio has now become a creative laboratory.
